Patent Prosecution

Invention protection is not easy, especially in the current political climate. Poorly – or even conventionally – advised patent applicants and inventors easily can end up with little or nothing from their hard work and creativity.

We have significant experience and strong ability in assisting clients in applying for intellectual-property rights. We operate on hourly rates or fixed-fee arrangements. (Unlike most of the rest of the practice, we do not offer patent prosecution on contingency.)

The Hoffman Patent Firm operates through a team of colleagues and affiliates in a collaborative, virtual approach, on a worldwide basis, led by Louis J. Hoffman, a registered patent attorney with extensive background and experience through a nearly 30-year career promoting intellectual-property rights and specifically patents. Louis is a leader in the field of patent prosecution and has contributed to the advancement of the field through his service as a board member (for the past 10 years) and chairman of the board (for the past 4 years) of the National Association of Patent Practitioners (NAPP), a national organization dedicated to support of and exchange of ideas among professionals working in the field of patent law.

We have the personnel and capability to prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications and Patent Corporation Treaty (PCT) applications, and to coordinate filings outside the U.S., all under Louis’ direction and close supervision of affiliated patent practitioners. In addition to the US, Hoffman Patent Firm has filed for patent protection in many countries for various clients around the world. The map below shows countries in which we have filed for patent protection for firm clients.
